In the cloak of darkness, a devoted soul embarked on a sacred mission: to perform the Fajr prayer, the first prayer of the day. However, the night concealed many challenges, and fate had a test in store.
As he ventured forth, an unforeseen stumble sent him crashing into a mire of mud, leaving his face smeared with filth. Undeterred, he rose from the muck, his resolve unbroken, and retraced his steps back home. Swiftly, he changed into fresh attire and set out again towards the mosque.
Yet, fate seemed determined to try him. Before he had covered much ground, another untimely fall subjected him to the same muddy ordeal. With determination in his heart, he once again rose from the mire, returning home to change once more.
Despite the challenges, his spirit remained unbroken. This time, as he left his home, he was met by a stranger, bearing a lantern that illuminated their path to the mosque. The radiant stranger led the way, the glow of the lantern ensuring a safe passage.
Reaching the mosque, the devoted one offered his gratitude to the stranger. The lantern-bearer stood in silence, waiting patiently for him to complete his prayer. Once the prayer concluded, the stranger escorted him out, silently offering his support.
This sequence repeated itself, each time testing the devotion and resolve of the faithful one. The stranger with the lantern proved to be a steadfast companion, guiding him safely to the mosque every time.
Upon returning from his final prayer, the faithful one found the lantern-bearer waiting for him once more. With a sense of curiosity and respect, he asked the stranger to reveal his identity. The stranger, with a solemn tone, confessed, “To be truthful, I am Satan.”
The faithful one was taken aback, struggling to comprehend how Satan, the deceiver, could have aided him in his quest for devotion. “Why would you assist me in reaching the mosque?” he inquired.
Satan responded, “Let me clarify. When you stumbled the first time, and you returned to your home, changed into clean clothes, and set out again, Allah forgave all your sins. When you fell the second time and repeated this act of devotion, Allah pardoned your entire family. I was afraid that if you fell again, Allah’s mercy would extend to your entire village, and I could not bear to witness such a display of divine grace.”
The revelation left the faithful one in awe, realizing the profound significance of his trials. He understood that his unwavering commitment to his faith had unlocked the gates of divine forgiveness not just for himself, but for his entire community.
This story serves as a powerful reminder of the boundless mercy and forgiveness of Allah. It illustrates how a single act of devotion, undertaken with sincerity and determination, can have far-reaching and transformative effects on our lives and the lives of those around us.
It also highlights the unexpected ways in which divine assistance can manifest, even from the most unlikely sources. The lantern-bearer, initially perceived as an enigmatic stranger, turned out to be an instrument of Allah’s mercy, guiding the faithful one through his trials.
Ultimately, this tale encourages us to persevere in our faith, even in the face of adversity. It reminds us that our devotion has the power to inspire divine intervention and lead to blessings that extend far beyond our own lives.
