Oscar-winning actor Jackie Chan was surprised after watching Matt Stutzman’s performance at the Paris 2024 Games in archery paralympics. The weather was rainy on Friday but still Chan reached to see Stutzman’s match.
“I came just for you,” Chan told Stutzman after he won a match against Mexican archer Victor Sardina. Chan stays at the historic Hotel des Invalides. He went there to support and show respect for the archery Paralympics.
“This is incredible for me,” Chan said. “It’s my first time at the Paralympics, and I’m truly impressed.” He said, “Watching these amazing athletes makes me want to work harder. They put in so much more effort than most people.”
Stutzman was struggling in his last Paralympics, but in this match, he showed great performance. “I’ll never forget this day,” he said. “This Paralympics has been full of great memories. My family was here for the first time, and I met Jackie Chan.”
Chan met Stutzman warmly and respectfully. They talked to each other, clicked some photos by the media and Chan gave some gifts to Stutzman. The most memorable moment was when Chan took the autograph from Stutzman.
Stutzman said that he likes Chan so much and it is amazing for him that he is admired by that person whom he loves so much. “I know a lot about Jackie Chan’s story—how he started, his challenges, and his success. It’s kind of similar to my journey,” Stutzman said.
Chan said that he has never tried to touch his feet with a bow, he humorously said this and said that he would like to practice if asked. “If someone wanted me to do this, I’d give it a try!” Chan said.
Stutzman said that he is prepared for his remaining matches in the archery Paralympics. After winning his first match, he is more inspired about his remaining matches still in the Paralympic title. “I feel like I’ve already won! It’s like a dream come true,” he said.
The Paralympic Games in Paris are still going on. The W1 and compound women’s archery finals are going to be held on Saturday. Stutzman will compete again on Sunday. He is ready to continue his performance in the archery Paralympics.
